anyone know why my internet is really slow under FreeBSD and other UNIX clones, including OpenSolaris, etc. (tried them all with all browsers). I have dual boot with Windows XP, where everything works normal with any browser. Do I need to configure a proxy, or what? I'm not really an expert. The 'Looking up hostname' t...hing appears all the time, and is quite lengthy, which I think is unusual. It's probably not a problem with bandwidth, because I can download files in full speed, it's just accessing websites, but I can't figure out what's the problem... thnxVisualizza altro

Jimmie Andersson whats keeping RC2? c'mon now...

ldap and pam-mkhomedir, anyone know how to set directory ownership to the ldap user logging in ??
currently I got pam authenticating against ldap and mkhomedir creating the home directories, but it's owned as root:wheel and the user can't write to their own home directory -- have read the man page for pam_mkhomedir, t...he only way I see atm is setting an insecure umask in the pam definition....
any ideas guys and girls ?Visualizza altro

William Has anyone here installed FreeBSD on the SheevaPlug? I found a small blurb about it on the FreeBSD site, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. Just curious about other people and if they got it installed on the internal flash or not.

New-time user with a strong desire to install FreeBSD (wanted to for the last several years), but have a few questions about compatible drivers.
The system I've got now has an Asus M2N68-LA system board with an Athlon 64 x2 4050e processor (32-bit) in it, I got 3 GB RAM, an nVidia GeForce 9300 GE (128 MB VRAM) graphics ...card, 2 320 GB SATA hdd's, and 2 LG DVD drives (1 burner, 1 player)...in a nutshell, it's a customized HP a6560z.
As I said, I want to make the switch to FreeBSD, but after looking through all the forums online - and at FreeBSD's site - I'm finding little to nothing in the way of info on drivers (specifically, drivers for an HP D2460, and an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo flatbed scanner).
Is there something out there, and I'm just not seeing it...or have I missed the boat altogether?
