Pendulum se forma en Perth (Australia), resultado del trabajo en equipo
de los productores Rob Swire y Gareth McGrillen con el aclamado Dj
local,DJ Paul ‘Elhornet’ Harding. Sus raíces abarcan desde el D&B,
breakbeat y hardcore, han tocado tambien en grupos de punk y metal. ...Su
creatividad parece imparable, intentaron conquistar el mundo del
D&B con apenas 12 meses de haberse formado el grupo.
Es la sensación de la escena drum&bass en Australia. Son unos
auténticos especialistas en armar bombas sónicas de lo más pisteras en
materia de bajo y percusión. Hace dos años, Pendulum consiguió bastante
eco en la escena de drum&bass con la edición de Vault que fue
elegida por algunos medios como track «drama» del año y que incluso se
ha comercializado en politonos para el teléfono celular. Tampoco es que
tengan una discografía demasiado extensa pero sus producciones en
sellos como Breakbeat Kaos son tan certeras que ahora mismo están en
boca de todo el mundo interesado en la evolución del «drama». Pendulum
saca en agosto de 2005 su primer L.P. precisamente en el sello
Breakbeat Kaos, Hold your color. El trio se enfrenta al reto del primer
trabajo largo con 13 temas de breaks funkoides que en principio los
tiene que encumbrar a la cima. Además de utilizar instrumentos reales,
el grupo australiano cuenta con la ayuda de MC Spyda y Tenor Fly al
micro. Su propio sello discográfico a partir del cual sacan todas sus
referencias desde el año 2007 se llama Ear Storm que a su vez es
subsello de la major Warner Music UK, lo que da una idea del potencial
masivo de Pendulum.
Han vendido 100.000 copias de su disco «Hold your colors», hicieron
remixes para respetados artistas como The Prodigy (Voodoo People) y han
sido tocados varias veces en la BBC 1, con su «Essential Mix».
