Tested a nice trick the other day: I needed to re-partition and was too lazy to re-install Gentoo the usual way. So I empties all browser and thumbnail caches as well as the ccache stuff, booted with seconadt Linux tarred up /boot partition and / partition with "tar -cjvpf" (note the preserve flag), backed it up to an ...external HDD and repartitioned. After that I booted with the minimal install disk, untarred the works in the correct places, mounted proc and dev, chroot'ed and re-installed grub. Result: a perfect clone of my lovingly crafted setup...

Grzegorz Since 4 years I am a user and fan of Gentoo. Alas now having problems to install it on my laptop with preinstalled WinVista... :-( But I will do it! Long live the Gentoo! :-)
